HOW TO REPORT POTHOLES AND OTHER ITEMS ON THE DCC WEBSITE:


•   Go to new.devon.gov.uk

•   Click on ‘Roads and Transport/ button (4th from left on second row of icons)

•   Scroll down and click on ‘Report a highways problem’

•   The next page will give various options.  In the case of roads, click on pothole, flooding/blocked drains, whatever the problem is.

•   Scroll down and click on ‘Continue’

•   If an error message comes up, click the ‘X’ in the box and you will be left with a map of Devon

•   Drag the map to the area you wish to report.  It is possible that an error message will continue to come up and you need to keep clicking the X in the box.  Click on the area of road to be reported. It may be necessary for you to click twice on the area.

•   The next page will give the opportunity of describing the problem.  Then click ‘Next’.  There will be the opportunity of providing a photograph.  If you do not have this, click ‘Next’.

•   The next page invites you to give your contact details.  If you do not wish to give these, click ‘Submit’

•   The next page will give a reference number and it is suggested you make a note of this to quote if the work has not been done.    You will receive an email with the reference number and description of the fault you have reported.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022

It was with profound sadness that Kentisbury and Trentishoe Parish Council has learnt of the death of Her Majesty The Queen.  

The Parish Council extends its heartfelt condolences to His Majesty The King and to the Royal Family.

We remember with immense gratitude the lifetime of service which Her Majesty devoted to our Nation and to the Commonwealth.

KENTISBURY AND TRENTISHOE PARISH COUNCIL are worked as one formed by the two Wards of Kentisbury and Trentishoe.

Kentisbury is a rural civil Parish bordering Exmoor National Park.  It consists of three hamlets:  Kentisbury, Patchole and Kentisbury Ford.

Kentisbury lies 10 miles North East of Barnstaple and the A39 runs through it.

The village has a Parish Church, a Grade II Listed Building, dedicated to St Thomas, dating from the late 15th or early 16th Century and is one of eight Churches comprising the Shirwell Mission Community.

There has been a Primary School in the village since 1876 with the existing school building being built in 1929.  The School is part of the West Exmoor Federation comprising Parracombe and Lynton Schools.

Within the Parish stands the site of the former Blackmoor Gate Station of the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway which closed in 1929.  Plans are well in hand to re-open the Railway as a tourist attraction.

Also within the Parish is the Calvert Trust Exmoor, providing holidays with physical, learning, behavioural and sensory disabilities to experience exciting, challenging and enjoyable outdoor activities.

Wistlandpound Reservoir, operated by South West Water which provides water to parts of north Devon, is a popular tourist attraction, with a pleasant walk around the lake.  The boundary of Kentisbury with Bratton Fleming runs through the middle of the reservoir.

As at 2015, the population of Kentisbury stood at 222.



Trentishoe forms the other Ward of the Parish Council and is situated in Exmoor National Park within an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).

Approaching the hamlet off the A39, there is a spectacular view from Trentishoe Down over the Bristol Channel towards south Wales.

The South West Coast Path runs through Trentishoe, which was remote enough for smugglers to hide their contraband in the Church tower centuries ago.


As at 2015, the population of Trentishoe stood at 46.
